How I Strategically Helped OtterBox Migrate from Demandware to Salesforce Commerce Cloud

Background:

Recognizing the loss in customer data through retail partner sales, OtterBox executive leadership challenged e-commerce to grow the channel by 200% globally by 2023. To meet direct to consumer initiative needs, it was essential to upgrade from the legacy Demandware platform to Salesforce Commerce Cloud as to optimize the store for the rapidly evolving mobile commerce space. and feature enhancements available  in the new software.

 

 

Conducted extensive functionality audit of Salesforce Commerce Cloud platform against current site experience and business needs as to define development and design requirements needed ahead of ideation. 

Responsibilities & Accomplishments:

 

Aggregated historic user research, site performance and user testing data to deliver best practice documentation and provide UX recommendations alongside the functionality audit to create buy in with key stakeholders prior to beginning design efforts. 

 

Output sketches and wireframes for key functionality changes based on user testing data and identified functionality changes from audit. Collaborate with the Creative Team to create new design system.

 

Worked with development to apply design system styling to Commerce Cloud components, allowing for quicker execution of applying wireframe changes to out of the box templates, improving build times and design feedback quality. ​​​​​​​

 

Outcome:

  • Named Best Online Shop by NewsWeek & Statista – 2021 - 2022.

  • Worked with creative team to update and deliver a new style guide and wireframes on time and two months ahead of development schedule.

  • Leveraged Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Page Designer components to deliver a new, more efficient design system that would enable merchandisers and developers to rapidly build and deploy new pages and content without the need of a designer.
